Don’t Miss the 17th Annual Courthouse Fun Run/Walk: November 22

Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 22, 2008 for the San Antonio Bar Foundation’s annual four-mile Courthouse Fun Run. The 17th Annual Fun Run is a fun filled family event you WON’T want to miss!

Each year, the 4 mile walk/run event brings members of the San Antonio business, legal, and law enforcement communities together in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the San Antonio Police Department’s Police Athletic League (PAL) and the San Antonio Bar Foundation’s charitable programs. The San Antonio Police Athletic League is the largest organization of law enforcement agencies formed to prevent juvenile crime and violence, designed to steer at-risk youth away from negative behaviors such as gangs and drugs, by directing their energies toward athletic and recreational activities and education. Utilizing off duty police officers, the program teaches children ages six to sixteen the concepts of team play, fairness, and safety. Steering at-risk-children into athletics at an impressionable age is an effective way to prevent them from joining gangs, abusing drugs and leading a life of crime. This supervision, constructive influence and the expanded public awareness about the role of our police officers is immeasurable.

Celebrating 25 years of serving the community, the San Antonio Bar Foundation is committed to community-based efforts to minimize conflict and to implement and support pro bono and educational programs. The Foundation’s mission is to promote justice through educational and charitable activities. Events such as the Annual Courthouse Fun Run/Walk enable the Foundation to support important community initiatives such as the Wills Clinic, the People’s Law School, and the Peer Mediation Training program in local schools.

Sponsorship levels are $300 (Silver), $500 (Gold) and $1,000 (Platinum), and entitle each sponsor to free entries for the race, including all pre/post-race activities, mention in the Subpoena, your name or firm’s name on the T-shirt, registration brochures, and finish line banners. The number of free entries begins with ten entries at the $300 level and increases with each sponsor amount.
