Community Projects:
The Foundation supports community programs that help the youth, the elderly, the poor and others who face special challenges in the pursuit of justice in our society. In particular, it supports the People's Law School , the Amigos in Mediation (AIM) Program, the Wills Clinic, and other pro bono projects.
 
 

St. Mary's Campus Ministry

The Foundation provided funds for the "San Antonio Bar Foundation Pro Bono Service Award for Law Students," which provides annual recognition and honorariums for outstanding leadership in three programs. These programs are:

1) Legal Clinic at St. Jude's Catholic Church, which provides legal aid facilities for the indigent and conducts the "Ask A Lawyer" Clinic annually, in which law Students participate and collect intake information for the people seeking counsel;

2) People's Law School, a joint endeavor with the San Antonio Bar Foundation, which provides free legal seminars to the San Antonio community. A student is chosen each year to act as the liaison with the Bar Foundation and sets up the facilities at St. Mary's, coordinates wtih other student volunteers and attends planning meeting; and

3) This honorarium varies from year to year, depending on needs as they have arisen. The student works with various groups in need of assistance providing services to the community. In the past, they have worked with the San Antonio Black Lawyers (SABLA) to provide "Street Law" classes at Sam Houston High School.
